Well pump repair Oklahoma City: licensed pump installers and the state rules

Well pump repair Oklahoma City is the job when a house well had water and the pump quit or is acting up. This page covers the Oklahoma Water Resources Board pump-installer license, the disinfection rule after pump work, and how many pumps-tagged firms this roster lists for Oklahoma City and Central Oklahoma. It does not repair the pump, quote a price, or book the job.

Before you call

No water at the house is often a pump, not a dry aquifer.

That sentence is this site's own wording on well pump repair across Oklahoma. The same pages say to ask for the category that matches the job: groundwater for drilling, pumps for the pump. Well pump repair versus a new well says if the house had water last month and now has none, start with the pump: breaker, pressure tank, and whether the pump still runs.

A well that has been making less water for years is a different first call. For a dry or failing well, use Oklahoma City water well companies and water well drilling Oklahoma City. No water from the well: what to do first is the short checklist. This page does not diagnose the well.

Names and phones on this site come from the public Water Resources Board finder. That finder page says it was last modified May 8, 2026. Look up the firm there and confirm the license category before you treat a row as a pump installer. Read how we check the list.

Oklahoma Water Resources Board

The pump license is a category, not a rating.

The Board's page, Apply for a Well Driller or Pump Installer License, says the OWRB licenses professionals to install or repair water well pumps and equipment, including windmills and solar installations. This is general information, not legal advice.

On that page, an applicant needs at least two years of qualifying experience in the category applied for, and must have been an Oklahoma resident for not less than 90 days, unless the reciprocity provisions for nonresidents apply. The same page says an operator's certification by itself does not constitute proper authority to engage in the activities that require a license. Ask which firm holds the license for your job.

The Wells and Licensing page says licensed drillers and pump installers have to follow minimum standards. Those include the location of a well in relation to potential pollution sources, surface and annular seals, disinfection methods, and approved materials. The program phone published on both Board pages is 405-530-8800. That number is the Board, not a pump shop on this roster.

After the pump is worked on

The rule puts disinfection on the licensee or operator.

Oklahoma Administrative Code 785:35-9-1 is the minimum standard for pump installation. Subsection (c)(4) says the well and pumping equipment shall be disinfected with a chlorine concentration of at least 100 parts per million throughout the well. The chlorine solution is introduced so it flushes the casing surfaces above the static water level. A minimum contact period of two hours is required before purging and flushing the chlorine solution from the distribution system.

The same subsection says disinfection in a well repair operation may be accomplished at the beginning of the operation with chlorine applied to obtain 200 parts per million for the period of the well repair. The water shall be purged before samples are taken or the water is used. The licensee or operator shall be responsible for disinfecting the well, pump, or pumping equipment. The well owner may pump and flush the well following disinfection, provided the owner has been instructed on the proper procedures by the licensee or operator.

Subsection (c)(3) says all submersible pumps shall be installed with a vented cap on the top of the well casing or pitless unit, so the pump does not draw surface water, mud, sand, or other substances into the well. A small-diameter well that uses the casing as a suction pipe need not have a vented cap if the casing is properly sealed or capped.

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality fact sheet Disinfection of Individual Water Wells says a water well should be disinfected when repairs to the well, plumbing, or pumping equipment are completed. The sheet says ordinary liquid laundry bleach may be used, and not to use scented or splashless bleach, since those will contaminate the well. The sheet is DEQ's homeowner procedure. The rule above still names the licensee or operator as responsible for the disinfection. This page does not reprint the sheet's step list.

This directory's roster

Pumps-tagged firms by mailing city, counted from our own list.

Counts are the company cards on the licensed water well companies index, one card per firm, read October 20, 2026. A mailing city is not coverage. A pumps tag does not prove the firm takes a private house pump today. Confirm the land when you call.

All firms
405 licensed firms. 259 of those rows include a pumps tag. The pumps number is a subset, not 259 extra firms. Well pump repair across Oklahoma is the statewide list.
Central Oklahoma
81 firms in 23 mailing cities. 56 include a pumps tag. Those 56 are spread across all 23 cities.
Oklahoma City
20 mailing-city rows. 4 include a pumps tag. The other 16 do not. All 16 of those include a geotechnical tag.

Four Oklahoma City cards include a pumps tag.

These are the only Oklahoma City mailing-city rows on the companies index whose license tags include pumps. The Oklahoma City page groups these four as the house-well companies. It groups the other 16 as geotechnical, agency, and other licensed rows. This page does not claim any of them will take the job.

On the companies index, two of the 16 Oklahoma City cards without a pumps tag also carry an Agency name badge: OK Corporation Comm. - Oil & Gas, and USGS. A geotechnical tag or an agency badge is not a pump installer. Ask before you treat that row as a house pump.

Well pump repair Oklahoma City: quick answers

Who licenses well pump installation and repair in Oklahoma?

The Oklahoma Water Resources Board. Its license page says the Board licenses professionals to install or repair water well pumps and equipment, including windmills and solar installations. Applicants need at least two years of qualifying experience in the category and at least 90 days of Oklahoma residency, unless reciprocity for nonresidents applies. The same page says an operator certification by itself does not authorize the work. The program phone on that page is 405-530-8800.

What should I check when an Oklahoma City well suddenly has no water?

This site's pump pages say no water at the house is often a pump, not a dry aquifer. If the house had water last month and now has none, start with the pump: the breaker, the pressure tank, and whether the pump still runs. Ask for the category that matches the job: groundwater for drilling, pumps for the pump. A well that has been weakening for years, or a dry or failing well, is a drilling conversation.

What disinfection is required after pump work?

Oklahoma Administrative Code 785:35-9-1(c)(4) says the well and pumping equipment shall be disinfected with at least 100 parts per million of chlorine throughout the well, with a minimum contact period of two hours before purging and flushing. In a well repair, disinfection may instead start at the beginning of the operation at 200 parts per million for the period of the repair. The licensee or operator is responsible for disinfecting. The owner may pump and flush afterward if the licensee or operator has shown the owner how. The same rule says submersible pumps are installed with a vented cap. The DEQ fact sheet says to disinfect when repairs to the well, plumbing, or pumping equipment are completed, and not to use scented or splashless bleach.

How many Oklahoma City pump-category shops does this roster list?

The companies index has 405 listing cards. 259 include a pumps tag. Central Oklahoma has 81 cards in 23 mailing cities, and 56 of those include a pumps tag, spread across all 23 cities. Oklahoma City's mailing city has 20 cards. Four include a pumps tag: All Out Pump Service And Drilling; Grateful Drilling, LLC; S&S Water Well Drilling LLC; and Shady Nook Pump And Supply, INC. The other 16 Oklahoma City cards do not include a pumps tag. A mailing city is not coverage, and a pumps tag does not prove the firm takes the job.

Does this page quote a pump repair price or book the job?

No. This directory does not set or publish job prices and it does not book the work. These pages are not reviews. Ask the company for a written quote for that land. Using the directory never creates a booking.

General information for Oklahoma City homeowners, not legal advice and not a booking. For a dry or failing well, use the drilling pages linked above.
